DETASSELING 2020 Update
Update on summer employment opportunities.
These are unprecedented times.
2020 is planned to be our 58th year of hiring local youth for detasseling seed corn and even in a time of a pandemic, the work still needs to be done!
However, for the first time ever, we have been charged with new challenges on how we recruit, manage and operate our seasonal crews. Over the next few months, we will be working hard to prepare for our local youth to join us again this summer! Please keep in mind that things are subject to change as we navigate through this unprecedented time.
What we are doing:
These are a few of the steps we are planning to implement in order to keep our staff, the local kids, and our community safe.
Adjusting our processes to keep crew members socially distant.
Providing face coverings and other PPE deemed necessary.
Increasing sanitation of shared spaces.
Essential Fun!
Our work is essential... There is work to be done and this is an important job. But it can still be fun! With so many changes in our regular lives, we are hoping to provide crew members with a safe, fun and active way for them to earn some money, spend time with peers, and enjoy the outdoors!
